On the mentioned incident window, customers experienced service disruptions across several ManageEngine cloud products hosted in the US data center. The outage was caused by an unexpected and sudden surge in inbound network sessions on the primary network gateway, which rapidly drove resource utilization to 100% across critical processing units. This level of saturation rendered the primary gateway completely unresponsive and the severity of the disruption required manual intervention by our operations team to restore normal traffic flow.

Actions Taken : 

  • Traffic was rerouted through an alternate data center to restore connectivity.
  • The primary gateway was restarted and the secondary gateway was promoted to the primary role in the main data center.
  • After monitoring for stability, traffic was routed back through the primary gateway of the main data center.
